About

I'm an active learner raised in the Southern part of the Blue Ridge mountains.  I am also an educator and mom, which may have something to do with my passion for exploring and sharing what I have learned.  I believe that the scientific facts teachers are expected to bestow upon students can be better understood when seen in real situations or are made relevant to everyday life and new experiences. I also believe that lesson design and delivery are crucial to teaching with rigor effectively.

I have a passion for helping teachers help their students learn to love learning science.  My hope is that the love transfers to all subjects of learning through practices to be active, flexible thinkers.  Reaching the students means going through their biggest influence, the teachers.  Teachers hold the most important profession and should receive the support they need to be their best.  We can share experiences that have been successful for a variety of classroom settings to make each other stronger educators.  So many education professionals have been an inspiration and support system to me.  I want to give back and give more to encourage improvements in our educational system for all students.  Science is the future and our students will be there to discover that; we can only hope they are prepared and work to make it so.
